What Are Some of the Best Dating Activities to Get to Know Someone Better?
While it’s easy to get into the default mode of grabbing a drink or a meal for a date, there are so many other choices for a date that can provide an even better opportunity to get to know each other.
Get moving! There’s something about walking with someone that seems to get the gab going. Visit a park, hit a trail, or grab a coffee and walk around the city… get strolling and watch the conversation flow.
Play together! Go bowling, throw some darts or an axe, or try your luck at miniature golf. Some friendly competition and harmless smack talk can make for a fun, relaxed experience where you get to see each other’s playful side. It’s hard to not have some good laughs when your darts somehow end up in the ceiling tiles (true dating story from yours truly).
Which Dating Activities Make It Difficult to Learn More About Someone?
As I mentioned above, the default date is often grabbing a drink or a meal. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but because it’s the typical date, it can feel like you are repeating the same experience and questions and answers over and over again, yawn.
Choosing a more unique and interactive activity will help the experience of the date stand out from the crowd and prevent the bland, cookie-cutter conversation.
It is also a good idea to mix up the settings of your dates when you want to get to know someone better. For example, if all of your dates are drinks at a bar, you don’t know how they will be in a non-alcohol-aided environment. Diversify the experiences so that you can get to know different aspects of each other.
Is There Behavior on a Date That Indicates That Someone Is Not Being Honest About Themselves?
There are a couple of potential red flags that you should look out for when it comes to a person’s honesty and authenticity. First, if your date avoids answering your questions directly, proceed with much caution. And, if everything they tell you about themselves and their life sounds perfect – sorry darlin’, but it’s probably too good to be true. Honest, genuine people have real conversations and can answer your questions directly because they have nothing to hide.
What Should Everyone Know About the Person They Are Dating After the First Few Dates?
After a handful of dates, you should know what the person is interested in or passionate about, what they are looking for in a relationship (casual or commitment?), and their general ideas and plans for their future. While I am all for having fun, if you aren’t learning more about these aspects of a person, you could be spending your valuable time with someone who is ultimately not a match for you.
What Are Some of the Most Unique First Date Plans You Would Recommend?
At the risk of beating a dead horse, avoiding the typical drinks or happy hour date actually feels unique these days. A first date doesn’t need to be complicated or extravagant to be memorable.
In addition to the ideas mentioned above, some of my first date favorites are: grabbing an ice cream, going to a dog park together, attending a wine tasting, visiting a museum, and going on a picnic.
